What next ???

Work for a freelance photographer is never easy and in recent days has got much tougher. I've had pretty much every job cancelled, or postponed until this health crisis with the Covid 19 outbreak is over and under control.

In between home schooling my son, I'm trying to be productive.

Keeping social media channels updated - I recently bit the bullet and started an Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/davidjcolbran.photographer/ and continuing virtual networking with LinkedIn.

Also I am spending a lot of time going back through my photo archive, revisiting older work and uploading images to various stock libraries. The financial return isn't what it used to be, but better something than nothing, with images hidden away on backup drives.

With all the extra free time, I'm learning some new video skills and techniques, in particular live streaming software and broadcasting platforms. Events will come back eventually and if I can offer additional services, that can't be a bad thing.

Finally, of course creating some new work. I have a small home studio and have a series of coloured light boxes. So a little personal project continues at pace. No doubt to be featured in the next blog post.

Until then a small selection of images from a recent commercial shoot down in London. Thanks for reading and stay safe !

Liverpool Business portrait sessions what to expect

Getting a portrait booked in for a business profile can be a new and daunting experience for some people. Many of my clients have never had a professional photoshoot before and of course it is up to me to make them comfortable ...

G7 Summit photography in Liverpool 2021 for the Australian Government

A very busy and interesting weekend working for Marise Payne Australia's Minister for Foreign Affairs at various venues across the city. It was my first time working at a high profile diplomatic summit.

Presentation at Digifest 2021 Festival, Durban, South Africa

A couple of weeks ago I was honoured to be asked to present and exhibit some of my artworks at the “Unmasked” Digifest and annual research conference 2021, based in Durban, South Africa

"I have employed David for conferences, presentations, social engagements, marketing materials, open days, portrait shots, official document signings amongst many others. David has always been amenable to our sometimes short notice and has delivered our photos in a quick time frame as agreed and sometimes much quicker depending on our needs. He has always been very helpful, he follows and delivers on the brief and is able to give additional value to jobs with minimal briefs. I am more than happy to recommend David and he will no doubt deliver the same quality he provides us."
